Who are the most overrated NFL players of 2022? Football is a tough game of big, ego-driven men clashing on the field and off, so it makes sense that a number of players don't always lived up to the hype. When you're trying to win games, it doesn't necessarily help to be underrated or properly rated, and many of these players have found success despite being the most overrated players in the NFL. So who is the most overrated NFL player of 2022? Which overrated football players don't live up to their potential?

When it comes to NFL players who are overrated, Carolina Panthers quarterback Baker Mayfield must be near the top. All of 2021, football fans were tortured by State Farm ads proclaiming how cool and great Mayfield was, for the entire weekend from Thursday through Sunday. And you know what happened? The then-Browns QB led his team to a losing record (8-9). Talk about a textbook overrated player. Then there's other current overrated NFL players like Mac Jones, Kyle Pitts, and Russell Wilson.

Vote up the most overrated NFL players this year and help decide who is the W.O.A.T. (worst of all time) right now!

Broncos nation, let's ride… and with Russell Wilson driving the car, prepare to drive off a cliff, much like the once esteemed quarterbacks career seems to have. You would be hard-pressed to find anyone in professional sports who has seemingly fallen off as quickly and as extremely as Russell Wilson. The perennial MVP candidate seemingly doesn't want to run, is making terrible decisions, and can't throw the ball to save his life. Things are bad when people are purposely checking in to watch a game just to see how bad a player can mess it up, and that is the point we have gotten with Wilson, and it only seems to be getting worse with every passing game.

    Baker Mayfield

Former number one overall pick and professional Hulu star Baker Mayfield has had one of the most tumultuous and lackluster careers of any heavily touted professional in NFL history, and his latest season with the Carolina Panthers is the perfect storm of mediocrity. With a league-worst Quarterback Rating of 15.5 out of 100, Baker has led the Carolina Panthers to a league-worst 1-5 record through 6 weeks, and it doesn't seem like things are going to get any better anytime soon. Baker can't seem to go downfield, he has lost his edge and swagger, and this may very well be the last stop for Mr. Hulu has live sports.

The coveted replacement for the great Tom Brady, Mac Jones has not only stunk up the New England Patriots' offense, but it seems like he may be losing his starting job very soon. After three weeks of mediocre play, Jones suffered an injury that led to Bailey Zappe taking over the team and the team going on to thrive during this time. With the current quarterback controversy in New England, it will be very interesting to see how things shake out, and if the Patriots are already ready to move on from their coveted quarterback.

Many thought the 2022 NFL season would be a redemption story for the once phenomenal running back Ezekiel Elliott. That we would finally see Zeeke go back to the glory days and help the Dallas Cowboys win with his running, many people were wrong. Elliott hasn't been as terrible as he has been in seasons past, but he hasn't been his old self either. Elliott's prime may be firmly behind him, but he is still a capable spot running back, and while he can break for the occasional great play, more often than not, he is going to merely be doing okay on the field.

Coming off back-to-back MVP-caliber seasons at age 38, many expected Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers to be a contending team in the NFL once again, but it appears as though father time is catching up to Mr. Discount Doublecheck. With a bottom-10 Quarterback rating, Rodgers has looked like a shell of his former self, only throwing a season-high 255 yards six weeks into the season, and having an immense amount of trouble both in and out of the pocket. The days of Aaron Rodgers being a top quarterback in the NFL may finally be over.

    Carson Wentz

Carson Wentz has gone from MVP candidate to one of the worst quarterbacks in all of football in just a few seasons, and his addition to the Washington Commanders was supposed to be a fresh new start for Wentz, but things turned sour very quickly. The commanders have one of the worst records in the league, are barely able to put up any points, and now Wentz is out for potentially the next 2 months after a devastating injury. It appears things can't get much worse for Washington or Wentz.
