It's been over 15 years since the final episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer originally aired, and yet the show still holds up today. When you stop to think about why the show remains a cult classic, it really isn't about the special effects or supernatural elements; it's more about the characters, and the strength of Buffy's main cast. In fact, it's difficult to imagine anyone besides Sarah Michelle Gellar playing Buffy Summers, or Anthony Head as Rupert Giles. Could someone other than Alyson Hannigan pull off season six Dark Willow? Sure it's a tall order, but it's not impossible.
Anyone who's a diehard fan of a show that's been off the air for a decade or two probably has their own fantasy casting for a reboot. So it's worth asking the question: what if Buffy was cast today? Could it be that the actors currently starring in Stranger Things, Riverdale, and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina are the best picks for a Buffy revamp, or do we need to think outside the box a little?
