    RIP Joyce

    Posted by Redditor u/phishezrule:

In Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 3, episode 6, Giles and Joyce listen to "Tales of Brave Ulysses" by Cream. In Season 5, episode 17, after Joyce's funeral, Giles sits and listens to it alone.

I was watching "Forever" (Season 5, episode 17), and Giles was listening to "Tales of Brave Ulysses" by Cream, the song Joyce and he listened to in "Band Candy." My heart. It is my billionth time watching the series and I’ve only just realized this.

    Anya's Human Wish

    Posted by Redditor u/PixelPenny:

    Anya in "The Body":

I think a lot of people missed the subtle and small but actually very strong character development of Anya in the episode "The Body."

She doesn't say much outside of her main speech about not understanding how all of mortality and losing someone works and vents her emotions. But one very small but extremely meaningful thing she says is the very first sentence she says directly to Buffy, "I wish Joyce didn't die."

If anyone else said it, it would just be a normal passing comment, but the only experiences Anya has had in her 1,000+ years of life are the experiences she had through the wishes she made as a Vengeance Demon. I think it's also the first time since she became mortal that we've actually seen her wish for something sincerely.

    Decorative 'Paperweights'

    Posted by Redditor u/theredace:

Not a very far callback, but in Season 2, episode 17: "Passion," when Jenny Calendar is in the shop buying an Orb of Thesulah, the shop owner says,"Don't get much call for those lately. Sold a couple as 'new age' paperweights last year. I do love the 'New Agers.' They paid for my youngest to go to college."

Then later in Season 2, episode 21: "Becoming: Part 1," when they're discussing how to restore Angel's soul and how they need an Orb of Thesula, Giles says. "I've got one. I - I've been using it as a... paperweight."

    Pizza Or Blood?

    Posted by Redditor u/mountm:

I enjoy the bit with Anya trying to clean Buffy's shirt before her date with Robin Wood, remarking that this pesky blood stain won't come out... or maybe it's pizza.

Earlier in "Conversations with Dead People," Dawn gets pizza sauce on one of Buffy shirts and shrugs it off, saying, "She'll think it's blood."

    Shrimp Reality

    Posted by a Redditor:

Way back in Buffy Season 4, episode 17 - "Superstar" (which premiered on April 4, 2000), Anya says of alternate realities, "Sure, alternate realities. You could, uh, could have like a world without shrimp. Or with, you know, nothing but shrimp."

Then later on not even the same show but instead on Angel, way ahead in Season 5, episode 17, "Underneath" (which premiered a full four years and 10 days later), Illyria brags about how powerful she once was, saying, "I traveled all of them as I pleased. I walked worlds of smoke and half-truths, intangible. Worlds of torment and of unnamable beauty. Opaline towers as high as small moons. Glaciers that rippled with insensate lust. And one world with nothing but shrimp. I tired of that one quickly."
