The spoiled daughter of Leonard and Sandra Green, Rachel had her share of broken hearts during the series run. Rachel overcame unfaithful relationships with her high school prom date Chip and her ex-fiance Barry Farber, as well as the infamous "on a break" break up with Ross.
Jennifer Aniston has had a busy and successful career, starring in a number of films including Along Came Polly, Rumor Has It, The Break-Up, Marley & Me, and The Bounty Hunter. Aniston stills remains close with Friends co-star Courteney Cox and is the godmother to her daughter Coco.
Ross's younger sister had crushes on Chandler Bing and Joey Tribbiani (until that one stripping incident). Obsessively clean and highly competitive, she was considered bossy and high-maintenance by her friends. Her parents favored Ross and she was often neglected by them throughout the show, especially by her mother. Monica was the only female member of the group to never be pregnant, despite being the only one who was trying to conceive.
Courteney Cox found success outside of Friends with a recurring role as Gale Weathers in the horror movie franchiseScream and as Jules Cobb on the ABC/TBS sitcom Cougar Town (which she also worked as a director on).
The eccentric, street smart friend, Phoebe lived on the streets of New York City from the age of 14. Though she never attended high school or college, she claimed to have special abilities including being able to hear Joey's thoughts, see and read the aura of others, and read tea leaves. As a surrogate mother, she gave birth to her brother's triplets.
Lisa Kudrow received many accolades for her portrayal of Phoebe on Friends, including an Emmy Award and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. She went on to produce, write and star in the short-lived HBO series The Comeback and starred in the Showtime series Web Therapy. Kudrow has also appeared in a few films since Friends including P.S I Love You, Hotel for Dogs, Easy A, and Neighbors.
The only son in a family of eight children, Joey was the stereotypical struggling actor: oversexed, under-educated, and constantly looking for gigs. He was funny and sweet, and also an ordained minister! He officiated both Monica and Phoebe's weddings.
Following Friends, Matt LeBlanc starred in the short-lived spin-off series Joey. Chandler was perhaps best known for his wise-cracking, sardonic attitude, odd dance moves, and humorous conversations with Phoebe. The show's creators had thought about making the character gay at the beginning of the series, but ultimately decided against it. However, there were often lines that made other characters question Chandler's preferences.
Following Friends, Matthew Perry began to carve out a career as a dramatic actor. He appeared in five episodes of The West Wing, earning two guest actor Emmy nominations, and earned Golden Globe and Emmy nominations for his starring role in the 2006 TNT movie The Ron Clark Story. Perry also starred in the short-lived Aaron Sorkin drama Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. He returned to comedy in 2010 with the ABC sitcom Mr. Sunshine, which lasted nine episodes and the NBC sitcom Go On, which lasted one season.
Monica's older brother Ross was a twice-divorced paleontologist turned college professor on the show. Socially awkward and clumsy but generally sweet-natured, Ross seemed to have a childlike need to always be right.
David Schwimmer has been active with film roles since Friends ended. He was cast as the title character in the 2005 drama Duane Hopwood (which Roger Ebert called a "career-transforming performance'"), voiced Melman the Giraffe in the Madagascar movies, and starred in the dark comedy Big Nothing and the thriller Nothing But the Truth. He made his directorial debut with the 2007 Simon Pegg comedy Run Fatboy Run and followed it up in 2010 with his second film, Trust.
