The 20 Best Anime Set In Magical Academies
Vote up your favorite anime that takes place in a magical school.
Whether you've been dreaming of attending one of the best anime magic academies yourself or just think it's a cool idea, magic school anime can be a ton of fun. In these anime, students gather to learn about spell-casting, sorcery, and all manner of magical subjects.
It's pretty common for magic school anime to feature an OP protagonist - The Irregular at Magic High School is a great example of that. But some of these shows, like Mary and the Witch's Flower, are less focused on awesome powers and more on atmosphere and character development.
Which magic school would you most want to go to?

Hagun Academy is home to would-be Mage Knights - that is, people who can transform their souls into weapons. Ikki Kurogane is the only F-ranked student at school, and is widely considered to be a failure.
When he sees A-ranked student and princess Stella Vermillion in the nude, she challenges him to a high-stakes competition: whoever wins has to become the other one's slave. Stella is sure that she'll win, but Ikki might have some unexpected abilities up his sleeve.

Death Weapon Meister Academy is a school for would-be Shinigami and their Death Scythe partners. The scythes aren't ordinary weapons - they're humans who gained the power to transform their bodies into weapon form after devouring 99 evil beings and one witch's soul.
Soul Eater Evans and his partner Maka Albarn really have their work cut out for them, not just because of the enormity of their goal but because of their totally contrasting personalities - Maka is far more serious and strait-laced than Soul is. But they'll have to put their differences aside and work with their equally eccentric classmates if they want to deal with all the challenges that come their way.

Magic was once thought to be the stuff of fiction, but at the start of the 21st century, it's been turned into a technical skill that can be taught to anyone. First High School is there to do just that, but the school doesn't treat all students equally. Those with high magical aptitude are called “Blooms” and are assigned to the First Course, while those with low magical aptitude are called “Weeds” and are relegated to the Second Course.
Siblings Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba apply for the school, but while Miyuki is assigned to the First Course, Tatsuya is stuck in the Second Course. But while Tatsuya might not have high magical potential in the traditional sense, his technical knowledge, physical strength, and unusual moves make him stand out above the rest.

About 30% of the residents of Academy City are students learning to enhance their psychic abilities. One student, Touma Kamijou, is ranked at zero when it comes to psychic powers, but he does have one peculiar ability called “Imagine Breaker” which allows him to negate other peoples' powers.
None of that has much of an impact on his everyday life until he encounters Index Librorum Prohibitorum, a young girl dressed as a nun who has memorized multiple forbidden grimoires. A dangerous magical organization is hunting her down, and it's up to Touma to protect her.
