While vampires get a lot of attention in media, we shouldn't forget their sworn enemy - the werewolves. The best werewolf TV shows put these half man-half beast creatures front and center in the action. However, the entries on this list comprise of both those shows about werewolves as well as some significant shows wherein werewolves are featured.

The first place your mind probably went reading this list title is Teen Wolf. The MTV show captivated teen audiences thanks in no small part to charismatic lead Tyler Posey. For fresher wounds, there's Paramount's Wolf Pack. The show puts genre star Sarah Michelle Gellar back into the teen supernatural space. Other great shows on this list include Bitten and Wolf Lake.

Hot off the heels of Twilight's success, the early 2010s were ripe with supernatural teen romances. In the fictional town of Beacon Hills, Scott McCall is bitten by an alpha werewolf. He must now balance being a teenager with being the protector of his town from supernatural forces. The source material for Teen Wolf is actually the 1985 film starring Michael J. Fox. MTV decided to make an adaptation that was darker, sleeker, and sexier, with the look of the show inspired in part by Guillermo del Toro's creatures in Pan's Labyrinth.

Eric Cord is a werewolf who has to kill the originator of his bloodline in order to rid himself of the curse. At the same time, Eric is being pursued by a bounty hunter himself. The show portrays Eric as a wanderer, seeking refuge in different places and picking up odd jobs to make some extra cash. When he transforms, he seems to have no recollection of these events but still manages to only harm “bad guys.” The series enthusiastically dug into werewolf lore, with blood transfusions and bites being methods of transferring as well as death only being achieved by suicide, a silver weapon, or another werewolf. As fun as a romp as Werewolf is, unfortunately the series ended before Eric could find his salvation.

Lasting only one season was CBS's Wolf Lake. Actually, of the nine episodes, only five were aired before its cancellation in 2001. Maybe the world just wasn't ready for a werewolf drama just yet. The series centers around a policeman who visits the small PNW hometown of his late fiancee. He discovers the inhabitants of Wolf Lake are divided into werewolves and humans, with the werewolves receiving special treatment. Modern audiences lamented the early cancellation of the promising show and have compared Wolf Lake to a hybrid between The X-Files, Twin Peaks, and The Howling.

Three roommates - one is a ghost, one is a werewolf, and one is a vampire. All three entities attempt to disguise their true nature as they live their lives. Sometimes, they're threatened with exposure and have to manage their unique afflictions in a way that does not affect the humans around them or expose the group. Our werewolf George has to deal with his monthly transformations so that he doesn't pass on his curse or kill anyone. The British version of Being Human aired in 2008 and perfectly blended the supernatural with a roommate comedy over the course of five seasons.

Combining rom-com sensibilities with the supernatural is She-Wolf of London. Due to some bizarre production, the first 14 episodes were filmed in England and aired under the She-Wolf title, and a second season of six episodes was filmed in Los Angeles and aired under the title Love and Curses. The series centers on grad student Randi Wallace and Professor Ian Matheson. The two fall in love but Randi gets bitten by a werewolf. The pair then travels around together, investigating supernatural phenomenon and making sure Randi's transformations don't have disastrous results.
